gift of vintage silk

A visiting friend inherited  a box of vintage silks from her mother-in-law ( who was a superb quilter & embroiderer ) & has given them all to me !!
Included in the hand painted Balinese box was the original yellowed receipt for the silk bought at David Jones in Sydney in 1964.
Thanks J & J x0x0x
There are stunning jewel colours of turquoise , raspberry , limes & yellows .
Now I just have work out how to use it !!

Saturdays I can usually be found wandering around my favourite spot in an attempt to get some much needed exercise ......my walk takes me past stunning waterways into forest & then around an ocean front pathway. It is perfect walking weather & the birds are everywhere !!

Hill track , much huffing & puffing up here

The Creek , summertime sees me floating happily in here .

View north from the top of the hill .

Some sewing bits now  .

I have been making bags ... Liberty & linen shoe bag  for a friend .I used a modified version of the tutorial at orange flower sketchbook
& another which cannot be revealed just yet for a swap . Really cute & simple to make, look here for tutorial.

I'll be travelling to the northern climes at Christmas this year so have splurged on 2 skeins of hand dyed cashmere to knit a beanie for my husband & self . This is my beautiful yarn , I'm in love with this  stuff !!
I have finished the Minny Mui log cabin & it will be sent off to baby P tomorrow.

Happy week folks!!
